Members are encouraged to offer as many titles as possible as this makes the scheme work most efficiently. They are also encouraged to include titles that no other library in the scheme holds and to include the current year of holdings if possible. It is acceptable to include all of your library journal holdings. We welcome journals covering all aspects of medicine, nursing and healthcare.
The annual membership fee supports the administration and work of the PLCS scheme by the team at the Royal College of Psychiatry, Library & Information Services. The scheme subscription year runs from January to December. For more information please contact infoservices@rcpsych.ac.uk
The scheme is designed as a reciprocal scheme: each library agrees to Supply and Receive. Copyright is the responsibility of each participating library. All libraries undertake to share their resources freely and to respond quickly to requests. No payment is made between members for document supply.
In the last few years, the PLCS has organised three highly successful national conferences for mental health librarians.
It also oversees the editing of the Core Collection for Mental Health, an acquisition guide for libraries of essential publications, endorsed by the RCPsych, supported by CILIP Health Libraries Group and produced by Tomlinsons. To obtain a copy e-mail Tomlinsons Book Service books@tomlinsons.net . The collection can also be viewed online via Library Thing http://www.librarything.com/catalog/MHCoreCollection
